Linde Electronics receives EuroAsia IC Industry Award

Recognized for excellence in materials improvement category

Murray Hill, New Jersey, U.S., July 18, 2007 -- Linde Electronics, the global electronic gases business of The Linde Group, has received EuroAsia IC Industry Award for excellence in materials improvement.

Linde Electronics offers customers around the world an extensive selection of gases and related technical solutions to meet all of their needs, from research and development through to large-scale production. Linde AG acquired The BOC Group, PLC in 2006, creating one of the largest industrial gases and engineering companies in the world.

The EuroAsia IC Industry Award recognizes improvements made to materials used for the manufacture of microelectronic devices. Linde Electronics, the worldwide leader in the supply of on-site fluorine generators, received the award for its Generation-F systems, designed to meet the semiconductor and display industries' chemical vapour deposition chamber cleaning needs.

"The material requirements of electronics manufacturing are as diverse as they are technically demanding. Whether the material is used for wafer processing, chip packaging or to further technology development, the timely delivery of high purity materials with exceptional consistency is critical to the electronics industry. This award recognizes a key improvement Linde has made in the safe delivery of high purity fluorine gas," said David Ridsdale, editor in chief, EuroAsia Semiconductor magazine.

Linde Generation-F systems combine proven technology with an intrinsically safe design, backed up by dedicated on-site support, to provide manufacturers with a safe and highly reliable source of pure fluorine for chamber cleaning.

Graham Hodgson, general manager of Linde Electronics fluorine business, said, "There is increasing recognition of the safety, supply stability and cost benefits of on-site, on-demand fluorine to replace hazardous compressed cylinders and to displace greenhouse gases. Linde’s range of on-site fluorine systems is modular, enabling us to supply an entire LCD fab, or replace small cylinder cabinet installations."

"We are very pleased that through the EuroAsia Industry Awards, our customers and partners have recognized our progress in improving safety and driving down materials costs for electronics manufacturers," Hodgson said.
Since qualifying the first Generation-F system in 2001, Linde has provided over 25 systems in 9 different countries, serving some of the worlds leading electronics manufacturers. Linde Electronics product development program continues to deliver significant cost of ownership and safety improvements, with new Fluorine generation products soon to be launched for PV Solar CVD chamber cleaning.

Visit Linde Electronics in booth #6460 at Semicon West in San Francisco’s Moscone Center July 17-19 to see Generation-F system and discuss the benefits in more detail with company representatives.
